Yellow Everlasting - perennial plant 20-40 cm tall. The root is branched, dark brown, woody. Stems erect, branching only at the inflorescence. Leaves subordinate, entire margins, like the stems - whitish hairy; lower leaves ovate, narrowed towards the stem.

Flowers - small ball-shaped baskets, which are placed at the top of the stem, in a shield-shaped inflorescence. Flowers yellow or orange.

Fruits - small, elongated, brownish. The plant blooms in June-August, the seeds ripen in August-September. In other years, it can be observed that it blooms again in August-September. The second flowering can also be observed if the first inflorescence is torn off - then the inflorescences are formed between the upper leaves and the stem. Each flower blooms for about 10-15 days; the first to bloom are the central flowers in the inflorescence. The plant reproduces thanks to seeds and vegetatively from root growths.

Inflorescences of the plant with approximately 1-2 cm long stem pods are used for medicinal purposes. Drugs are prepared at the beginning of flowering, until the side flowers open, in well-ventilated rooms on sieves, or in dryers at a temperature not exceeding 40C. The obtained drugs are stored in a dark place. The finished drugs consist of yellow or orange flower heads - on average 7 mm in size. They have a weak but pleasant aroma, astringent bitter taste. The moisture content of the drugs should not exceed 12%. Can be stored up to 3 years.

Yellow Everlasting contains flavonoids and flavonoglycosides, coumarins, tannins, triterpene saponins, essential oils, resins, organic acids, carotenoids, vitamins, polysaccharides, vitamin K, ascorbic acid, potassium, calcium, iron, manganese salts, copper, aluminum, chromium and polysaccharides.

Medicinal significance

Yellow Everlasting have an antibacterial effect thanks to the resin acids they contain. The flower arrangement has choleretic, cholekinetic, choleretic, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic effects. Increases the secretion of the gallbladder and the bilirubin contained in it, increases the tone of the gallbladder and promotes bile reflux. Creates a calming effect on the smooth muscles of the gallbladder and bile duct sphincters, changes the viscosity and chemical composition of bile.

Stimulates the release of gastric juice and reduces the evacuator function of the stomach and intestinal tract, thus creating an opportunity for better food processing. Activates the internal secretion of the pancreas and expands intestinal blood vessels.

Yellow Everlasting flowers are an ancient folk medicine used to treat the liver, gastrointestinal tract and kidneys. It is known in the vernacular that this plant treats hepatitis. This is one of the plants whose properties attributed to vernaculars have subsequently been scientifically confirmed.

In folk medicine, yellow Everlasting drugs are used much more widely than in pharmacology. It is used as a diuretic and to stop bleeding. Therapeutically, a decoction of Everlasting is used in case of stomach ulcers, kidney stones, kidney and bladder inflammation.

Yellow Everlasting can improve the condition of patients who suffer from acute cystitis, difficult and painful urination, edema caused by kidney failure. A decoction of this plant is also drunk in case of inflammation of the sciatic nerve. The preparations are also used to stop bleeding in hyperpolymenorrhea, ovarian dysfunction, and uterine fibroids.

For men

In folk medicine, preparations of the plant are used to treat impotence, as well as prostate atony on the background of chronic prostatitis.

Not recommended for use

Yellow Everlasting should not be used in obstructive jaundice. Long-term use of this herb may cause liver problems. Everlasting essential oil in high doses can cause a depressive state.

Yellow Everlasting should not be used for more than 3 months without a break. Plants of this group increase blood pressure, hypertensive people should not use this plant for a long time!
